About Dr. Frank D. Young Ph. D., R. Psych
 

Frank D. Young, Ph.D., is a registered psychologist in private practice in the Comox Valley, BC, Canada. Formerly Senior Clinical Psychologist, Holy Cross Hospital, Calgary, Alberta. Adjunct Faculty, Family Therapy Institute, CHR. Instructor, Canadian Federation of Clinical Hypnosis. Sport Psychologist, National Coaching Certification Program. Founding Editorial Board Member, Journal of Systemic Therapies. Clinical Member, American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Has published articles, presented numerous workshops, and produced CDs and MP3 audio files on such topics as Ericksonian approaches in hypnosis and therapy, humorous approaches in strategic family therapy, anorexia and bulimia, imagery training, lucid dreaming, creativity, Mind State Management, and performance enhancement.

Over the past 15 years, Dr. Young has served as a program and management consultant to a number of mental health and commercial organizations, using his background in market research. In the past 10 years he has been more involved with sport psychology at national and international levels with individual athletes and several of Canada’s National teams. Still, the main focus of his practice is focused on stress management, purpose, and passion. Many of his principles of mediation, mindfulness, and problem resolution with a solution focus derive from the philosophy of judo and other martial arts.
